There are countless things that can cause fear. In today’s world, global pandemics and financial woes are two misfortunes that sit atop many people’s lists. Fear takes over when we feel we have no control over our circumstances. But we can find hope in the fact that God is always in the driver’s seat. If you find yourself feeling fearful, try lowering your anxieties with these three scriptures.
1. Isaiah 41:10
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Oftentimes, fear stems from having to face a daunting challenge alone. But Isaiah 41:10 tells us that we can lean on God’s strength and righteousness. God knows the future and has your best interest at heart. Trust in him and resist the urge to wallow in fear.
2. John 14:27
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”
John 14:27 highlights the difference between world peace and the peace of God. Worldly peace is fleeting and easily crumbled. But God’s peace is eternal. Use that knowledge as motivation to set aside your worries and boldly choose peace over fear.
3. Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 encourages believers to fight fear with courage. It goes on to back up the commandment with the best kind of reassurance; godly support. Although we know that God is omnipresent, it’s always comforting to hear once again that God is walking beside us.
Don’t let fearful feelings control your life and steal your peace of mind. Read these three scriptures and allow them to serve as a reminder that God is bigger than your fears.
